My weight loss accountability journal, where I evaluate progress and try to motivate myself to keep going. My first post outlining my cut phase goals can be found here.
Man. Weight loss is hard. If I go by the numbers, my progress looks terrible. Besides the first few days, it looks like I’ve been hovering around 133 lbs for the past 3 weeks. That is especially sad considering that I have actually been pretty consistent with tracking and eating at ~1600 kcals a day. The biggest challenge has been weekends and celebrations. September is a big birthday season for us so that means birthday treats, birthday dinners, parties, and outings with friends. However, life is always going to have that type of thing, and I don’t want my weight loss goals to get in the way of being able to enjoy social outings and celebrations with friends.
The good news (I guess?) is that this last week was PMS week, so I was feeling bloated and yucky but still weighing the same. I am hoping that means my weight will trend down in the coming weeks. I have to remind myself that my weight can fluctuate up and down up to 2 pounds daily due to any number of factors, and I have to be patient. If I take the average of each week and compare them… it works out to about half a pound of weight loss per week, which is actually a healthy rate.
As for non-scale victories, my workouts are still feeling good and I am feeling stronger. I am still having fun at F45 and I also just started at CrossFit Sun. It’s been really fun getting into a new community and learning new moves. I got my first double-unders, and I’m learning how to do olympic lifts with proper form. Second, my hunger level has been manageable. I think in general when you start a diet, you expect that there’s going to be some hunger involved, and you accept that going in. But I have not felt deprived, and I have still been able to work in my favorites- sushi, pumpkin cream cold brews, even the occasional boba. I can make treats fit within my allotted macros, which is what will keep this sustainable. I prep chicken breasts and eat boring food 80% of the time, so that I can eat out and have food freedom, and still meet my goals.
Overall I do see a positive difference in my body, with some extra definition in my shoulders and upper body, and maayybe the very beginnings of side abs? 🧐 Obviously, I would love for the fat to come off of my belly area, but unfortunately it doesn’t work that way. Patience and consistency. Two more months to go.
